Two Quotes From Linda Ragsdale's Website
"My favorite Poem is by Max Ehrmann called Desiderata. One of my favorite stanzas: You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees or the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should."
"Whenever I don’t know the words to a song I sing the word, “watermelon”. It has enough syllables to fit any rhythm!"

"I had this brilliant idea. What if you put high school students into a classroom for one day and taught them how to craft good poems—haiku, free verse, etc.—and just let them write about anything they wanted; allowed them to express their thoughts, feelings, ideas about their world; and, what if you then equipped those students with the tools to actually publish a book of those poems; in one day? Could they summon the focus and courage to accomplish such a lofty goal? Could I show them how to Do the Write Thing in 24 hours? Could I make it fun and insightful for them? Could they produce a book in a day?" —Kwame Alexander
